India and Afghanistan reached a tentative agreement on a gas deal on Tuesday, the government said, after the two sides agreed to reduce their own production of the fuel.
“The two countries have signed an agreement to reduce the number of gas cylinders that they produce,” deputy minister for petroleum and natural gas, Anand K. Sharma, said in a statement.
India is India’s biggest supplier of natural gas to Afghanistan and is trying to reduce its reliance on the country’s neighbours for supplies.
